Comet Lovejoy



 

Comet Lovejoy (also known as C/2014 Q2) is a long-period comet discovered August 17, 2014, by Australian amateur astronomer Terry Lovejoy. On January 7, 2015, it was  43,600,000 mi. from Earth, its closest approach. Its next visit to Earth will be in about 8000 years.
